Y tu mamá también (2001)

I haven’t revisited Alfonso Cuarón’s great Y tu mamá también in at least ten years, but we don't choose when the art in our mental archive comes for us. We take it in and hold on tight for when we'll need it.

At the beginning of Y tu mamá también, maybe even in the first scene, Cecilia (María Aura) is about to leave Mexico for the summer and she makes an excuse to get Julio (Gael García Bernal) alone so they can have sex before she's driven to the airport. They've been dating for a bit and they're in their late teens, so their relationship feels especially dramatic. Cecilia's mom, frantically yelling they'll miss the flight, is seconds from bursting into the room, but Cecilia wants Julio to finish. Specifically, she wants Julio to come inside her, saying "I want to have a little of you with me."

Last night, I ate a really good chocolate chip cookie before bed and then I didn't brush my teeth so that while I was drifting off to sleep, my mouth would still taste like the cookie.
